DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may include some or all of the following:
- Balance technical leader and senior contributor/hands-on team member roles within cross functional team of engineers responsible for development and expansion of highly transactional and high traffic internet based platform.
- Champion continuous improvement within the technical team and advocate for continuous improvement across all technical and product teams within the organization at large.
- Play key role in architecture and technology strategy of the product alongside with Product Manager, CTO and several other senior technologists.
- Responsible for technical tools selection, performance management, and failure analysis initiatives within the team.
- Co-champion software engineering talent acquisition, career development, and coaching within the team.
- Lead or/and assist in establishing development and quality standards and processes.
- Ensure that all product environments are optimally running, available without unplanned interruption, and build according to clearly defined SDLC.
- Advocate data driven decision making by creating algorithms, implementing and maintaining various metrics and dashboards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years of software engineering experience, with a strong hands on foundation in software engineering in an Opensource environment (LAMP preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience leading engineers as a technical leader responsible for overall platform quality and for coaching the team to produce best code possible.
- Proven record of delivery. Able to inspire a team to produce and maintain technical standards, be their advocate, be able to provide mentorship.
- Recent hands on senior level development experience utilizing PHP / MySQL and championing or challenging complex multi-tier architectures.
- Extensive knowledge of software development design patterns such as MVC.
- Full stack experience – front to back end.
- Transactional high volume and high availability web environment experience is a must.
- Agile environment experience, especially Scrum, is a strong plus.
- Ability to partner with others. The ideal candidate will have opinions, but not be dogmatic about their delivery.
